THANK YOU! THANK YOU!  Our food pantry shelves are slowly getting replenished and more is coming  but hunger does not take a vacation.  As you are able and willing please bring an item when you visit UUCF.  Paper products, meat, beans, peanut butter, ready to eat items are needed.  

 

2nd Sunday donation for Planned Parenthood of Michigan raised $1177.  The information and services provided are real life saving, family strengthening and women’s rights enhancing.  Next month our 2nd Sunday donation will go to the Leadership Fund at UUCF.  This helps send members to leadership training which helps improve programs and the operations of UUCF.

The Board has authorized 3 monthly donations which are not voted on by members: MUUSJN (statewide, grant funded education and issue advocacy for state UU members), UUSC(denominations affiliated international and national advocacy and action group) and local UUCF Leadership fund.

To be voted on at upcoming meeting: 9 Available slots

 

-Eisenhower Backpack Food Program: send home backpack of food with a needy child at our nearby school through Foodbank of Eastern Michigan.

-Michigan Faith in Action: supports our membership in Congregation Based Organizing initiative by education, actions and issue advocacy local & state.

-Motherly Intercessions: after school tutoring, counselling and jail visitation for children of current and formerly incarcerated parents.  Works to break generational poverty and crime cycle.

-YWCA Sexual Assault & Domestic Violence Center: legal, emergency room support team, counselling, short term housing and access to community resources.

- Family Promise of Genesee County : non fixed site homeless shelter which allows opposite sex children and adults STAY TOGETHER.  Day center provides laundry, job, housing and psychological support while helping families save funds for housing deposits or auto repairs, etc.

-Shelter of Flint:  Homeless shelter for women and children, counselling and community resource access.

-Food Bank of Eastern Michigan: distributes 28 million pounds of food in 22 counties of Michigan through partnerships with 415 other groups and retailers.

-Planned Parenthood of Michigan:  Provides nonjudgmental services to women & men for STD, birth control and abortions(medical & surgical) at 20 sites.

-Wellness HIV Network: Offers HIV & STD testing, LGBT safe space, counselling support and community resource access.  STEP- program of clean needle and Narcan rescue kits are provided.  Healthcare access support.
