What's New - April 2018

March 31, 2018

Local 2018 Earth Day Celebration Sat. April 14 at Mott Community College 10a-2p.

There has been a Trump bump in donations for the environmental community after the

2016 election. As a member of the Sierra Club, I INVITE  UUs to join the Sierra Club Lake Nepessing Group. Think globally act locally. Yes, the local group can use your money, but in

dealing with government the Sierra Club needs your membership to advocate for clean air, water, soil, food. When Earth Day comes up I will have membershipforms at the church.

If you wish to contribute to the local Nepessing Group send a check to: Richard Naber 4039 S Hemlock Ln, Mount Morris, MI 48458-9307 (Treasurer of Sierra Club Lake Nepessing Group and

President of Genesee Audubon Society).

This year the Earth Day Celebration will be at Regional Technology Center Mott Community College on Saturday April 14 from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

An extended family is a social group established in a congregation.  We did this in the '80's, and there is still a family that has survived until this time.  They are usually intergenerational and are for anyone who wishes to spend more time with other members of the congregation.  The usual pattern is a once a month gathering with a planned activity.  Usually the planning is passed around, so not one person is the leader.  Once a group is established, it will be up to them when they meet, how often, and what kinds of activity they would be interested in doing.

If you are interested in being part of an extended family, I will be the initial organizer. Please contact me by phone at 810-744-0228 or e-mail

Rummage Sale needs your Rummage - And you!

We have only 7 weeks until our Annual Rummage sale is scheduled. Forgo that trip to the donation bin and save you rummage for our giant sale. This is one of our biggest fundraisers of the year and brings in revenue from the surrounding community well offering amazing goods at an affordable price. We are also in need of an organizer/supervisor and a team to help this run smoothly. If you are interested, please let us know.

Garden and Grounds
Memorial Garden and Grounds meeting after church service on April 8 at 12 pm in the Sharp

conference room I have had the privilege of working with some great members of our congregation in the past 20+ years to enhance and maintain our garden and grounds. If we are to continue to maintain the beauty of our property, we need new strategies to recruit volunteers. Please join us to explore options. If unable to attend, give me a call or send an email or text with your ideas. John Helsom Memorial Garden Chair (810 659 1067)
