Last Saturday, September 23rd, Reverend Soto received second degree burns on 20% of her body. She is currently at Hurley and receiving care, her friends are in contact with her, and family and her partner Reverend Sean are all in town. I have reached out to both Reverend Soto and Reverend Sean and let them know that UUCF is able and willing to assist in whatever local needs they may have.
Showing Our Support Cards, texts, emails, and calls are appreciated instead of unannounced visits and flowers. A friend of Reverend Soto's has made a GoFundMe page for those who would like to donate monetary gifts.
What Now? While we are honoring the Reverends' space during grief and healing, I want to assure you that business at UUCF continues. Regional leadership, our Minister Emeritus, and area ministers have all reached out to offer their assistance. Immediate needs have already been addressed, and now the work of navigating this situation for the longer term begins. This is a new experience for all of us so it's very important that we remember patience. I ask that any concerns come to Personnel Committee/Executive Board so they can be directed to the people who can best help us with our needs. Suggestions are of course are welcome as well!
Updates I will continue to keep the congregation updated via blogs on our website and pulpit announcements.
